A 1924 Dodge Touring comes to town!
Rex's 1924 Dodge Touring
This started off as a series of e-mails from Rex, he had purchased a 1924 Dodge Touring and it was supposed to be delivered any day. Finally the big day came and when I saw this car, I could not believe it. This is a beautiful machine. I had no idea that the Dodge Brother's cars of the 20's were built to that high of a standard. Everything on this car is straight forward and appears to have been designed to last for a very long time. This is a beautiful car!
Rex fought some fuel issues when he first got the car, it had been sitting for many years. It obviously had been restored at one time and by all appearances was a solid original when the restoration started. The car was tough to start the first few times, good spark and no fuel. Rex did not waste much time figuring that problem out.
What is it like to drive a 1924 Dodge? Great! Kind of nerve racking though, every vehicle is a potential threat to a vehicle I can not afford to replace. You better get used to drawing lots of stares and thumbs up as this car catches everybody's eyes. I appreciate Rex allowing me to drive and work on this car. It is a true work of art!
Here is the old Dodge going down Broadway, right here in Salina, Kansas. Rex and Nadine were out for a brisk morning cruise, it was a sweet sight!
