The Jones Six, a rare one manufactured in Wichita, Kansas.
The Jones cars were built in Detroit in 1914. By early summer of 1915 the facility had moved to Wichita. Jones had success selling the autos in his hometown of Wichita; estimates are that he sold over 3000 cars and trucks. Jones assembled the cars from purchased materials; the facility did not make body panels.
The war forced an increase in supplied parts and the Jones Six rose from 995 dollars in 1915 to 2,750 dollars in 1921. The Model T cost 850 dollars in 1915 and had dropped to 395 dollars by 1921. A fire burned the Jones plant in 1920. Jones fought hard to restore the marquee, but the firm folded in 1921.
This Jones Six is located on the fourth floor of the Wichita City Museum in the old City Hall downtown. This is one of eight known to exist today. The car will be found in a neat display with tools and articles of the times.
